Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide basic security functions. This page explains every cookie and local storage entry that FocusHear uses.
The short version: FocusHear uses only strictly necessary cookies — ones required to keep you signed in and keep the app working. We use no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no third-party tracking cookies.
2. Cookies We Use
All cookies set by FocusHear are strictly necessary for the service to function.
sb-access-tokenStrictly NecessaryExpires: 1 hour (auto-refreshed while active)Stores your Supabase authentication access token. This is what keeps you signed in between page loads. Without it, you would need to sign in again every time you navigate to a new page.
sb-refresh-tokenStrictly NecessaryExpires: 60 daysStores your Supabase authentication refresh token. Used to silently obtain a new access token when the current one expires, so you stay signed in during longer sessions.
sb-auth-tokenStrictly NecessaryExpires: SessionA secondary Supabase authentication cookie used in certain browser environments to maintain session state.
3. Local Storage (Not Cookies)
In addition to cookies, FocusHear uses your browser's localStorage to save your app preferences locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to our servers and is not accessible to any third party.
focushear_prefsFunctional (local only)Expires: Permanent (until browser data is cleared)Stores your app preferences — caption font size, position, background style, language settings, theme, accent colour, sound alert preferences, and your alert name. Kept locally so your settings persist between visits without requiring a server round-trip.
focushear_guest_tsFunctional (local only)Expires: 24 hoursRecords the timestamp of when you last chose to continue as a guest (without signing in). Used to avoid showing the sign-in prompt on every visit within a 24-hour window.
4. What We Do Not Use
- No analytics cookies (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar)
- No advertising or retargeting cookies
- No social media tracking pixels
- No third-party cookies from any source other than Supabase authentication
- No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
5. Managing Cookies
Because all cookies used by FocusHear are strictly necessary for authentication, blocking them will prevent you from signing in and maintaining a session. You can still use FocusHear as a guest without any account cookies.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
To clear FocusHear's localStorage preferences, clear site data for focushear.app in your browser's site settings, or sign out and clear your browser's local storage.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce new cookies in the future, we will update this page and notify registered users by email before those cookies are placed. We will not introduce non-essential cookies without providing a consent mechanism first.
